PSD gathered a quorum in the Senate with the support of UDMR and USR. George Dircă’s explanation. At stake: postponement of parliamentary elections

The PSD has not managed in the last two weeks to get a quorum in the Permanent Office of the Senate to send to the Plenary the law on the postponement of parliamentary elections, returned by President Klaus Iohannis in Parliament. PSD Senator Pavel Marian was elected Chairman of the Ialomiţa County Council and resigned from the Senate, and Ion Ganea was absent from the meetings, subsequently being excluded from the PSD.

At Monday’s meeting of the Permanent Office, the PSD, despite the two votes in favor, managed to gather a quorum. Explanation: the UDMR representative came to the meeting after a two-week boycott. Additionally, USR Senator George Dircă was also present in the Permanent Office, although PNL and USR agreed to boycott the meeting to block the postponement of the parliamentary elections.

George Dircă claims that there would have been a quorum without him. “There are 12 members in the Permanent Office, but last week, Marian Pavel from PSD resigned, because she was elected president of the Ialomiţa County Council. Therefore, there are 11 people left in BP, so the majority are 6 people, not 7. When I arrived at the BP meeting yesterday there was already a quorum: the 5 PSD senators plus Tanczos Barna from UDMR ”, explained George. Dircă for “Adevărul”.

When asked why he was present at the BP meeting on Monday, after being absent for the past two weeks, George Dircă replied: “I boycotted the last two meetings because Marian Pavel had not resigned. But Paul resigned last Tuesday. at yesterday’s meeting, although I was absent, there was still a quorum, because the senator from the UDMR was present ”.

George Dircă was elected by the PSD as head of a Directorate in the Legislative Council, together with Florin Iordache, the author of the famous GEO 13 in the winter of 2017. Iordache and Dircă have not yet taken office, because the Parliament’s vote was challenged in CCR. The court is due to make a decision on Wednesday.

The PSD sent to the Legal Commission the bill that stipulates that the Parliament decides the date of the legislative elections and not the Government. The bill will receive a final vote at Wednesday’s Senate meeting and then go to the Chamber of Deputies. In the Senate, PSD has only a majority.

Senator Ion Ganea sabotaged PSD, the party that transferred him from the PMP. Ganea, a former Securitate worker during communism, played the NLP games, with the Liberals trying to block the law by which parliamentary elections can be postponed until the spring. But the defection of Ganea does not ruin the plans of the PSD: Marcel Ciolacu wants elections in December to get rid of the town of Liviu Dragnea
