It was the first night that a completely new traffic restriction worked. Between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., only those who worked, those who had medical emergencies, accompanied and cared for children or the elderly, and those who had a family death could leave their homes. And all were required to have a declaration on their own responsibility. The fines for violating this rule range from 500 to 2500 lei.
The police and gendarmes stayed in the streets all night. They stopped those who were driving after 23:00 and checked if they had good reasons to do so.
In Craiova, the first fine for violating the night quarantine was issued a few minutes after its entry into force. The customer in a taxi had no mask or certificate.
Driver: For a second I forgot and I fell, I had it with me. I mean, what should I do?
Police: Do you have a declaration under your own responsibility?
Driver: No boss, I was going to leave the key, now.
In Brasov, some of those detained for control wanted to tell the police about their discontent.
Driver: They seem a bit abusive to me, honestly. I believe that the Government’s declaration should include particular situations. Now I came after my wife so as not to leave her alone on the street.
And in Bucharest, the first fines were given immediately after 11 at night. Some of those sanctioned were waiting to be personally informed of the rules they had to follow.
Driver: No one informed me personally. On TV it said like this: after 11 at night, starting today, starting on Monday, while today we are 9.11 in the morning, I left home at 2.00 in the morning.
Driver: Give a fine, that’s the law, we obey the law.
Police: Why don’t you have a declaration at your own risk?
Driver: I’m late About what I thought. We were hoping to get home earlier, we were coming from the construction site.
In Oradea, the control equipment was installed at the exit of the city. In the largest city in the county of Bihor, the infection rate is close to 8 cases per thousand inhabitants.
Police: Okay, permit, ID card, coupon, and insurance.
Driver: We move, we have all the necessary documents, certificate, declaration, absolutely everything.
All restrictions remain in effect for 30 days.
