“12 years, 4380 days, 350040 hours, 62208000 moments, that’s what I spent as the representative of the people in the Romanian Parliament.
If only ten percent of this time (and I assure you there were many more) was remarkable, I can feel like the most accomplished and blessed man; And that’s how I feel
I participated in the elaboration, amendment and voting of hundreds of laws, which today are the legal pillar of Romanian democracy.
I never considered myself a politician, but a career diplomat in the service of Romania and Romanians.
The country, my people, has given me a lot and I am proud to have been able to give back a part.
Whatever position I was in, whatever debate I participated in, I had only one goal: the good of my people. I have never been in the service of the politicians of the moment.
Although my powers keep me happy with God and I see that in consolidated democracies, at my age you can become president of the country, I decided not to run for a new legislature. He left the place of the young to demonstrate his devotion to Romania through his work in Parliament. I’m sure they’ll do a good job.
I will continue my educational and academic activity and will continue to be, as long as I live, a diplomat in the service of Romania, ”wrote Teodor Meleșcanu on Facebook.
