At the wheel of one of the dozens of tractors that attend the cabbage fair in Lungulețu every day is a small and cheerful 76-year-old lady. She is Dumitra Andrei or Aunt Mița, as the locals call her, and she is the first woman in the commune to obtain a driver’s license.

“This is the clutch, here is the brake and here, below, is the acceleration,” explains the woman.

Simple! For Aunt Mita, the tractor has no secrets.

– When did you first get your driver’s license?

– In 1976. I took the leave immediately, I didn’t go twice, I took it with congratulations!

“What did the knights of the town say?” Couldn’t they believe it?

“If they saw, shouldn’t they believe it?” After driving the IMS, I also drove an ARO and after that he became the boy, he drove and I kept the tractor, because on the tractor it is easier than on the car, explains Dumitra Andrei.

Tanti Mita handles the steering wheel very easily, even with one hand. He has already earned the respect of the rest of the riders at the show, all men.

– Very easy, very easy! With one hand, not two! Aunt Mita laughs, talking about how the tractor drives.

– Since when do you have this tractor?

– For a long time, 20 years.

– Did you have a problem with him?

– No!

The old woman, slightly brought from behind and no taller than the wheel of the tractor she is driving, has been beating the potato and cabbage fields in Lungulețu for almost 30 years. He says that he does not give up work even in the first place and does not understand young people who are idle.

“As long as God keeps me, I don’t give up, I like to do what I can at home, I couldn’t do it when I was young, but I think I do half of him,” says Aunt Mita.

– Ditamai Trailer Units! says an admiring viewer.

– Brave?

– Yes, I did! he admits.

– Mrs. Mita is a special woman, she works a lot at her age, I no longer say brave, says a woman who knows her.
