Monica Anisie, Minister of Education, announced this Saturday morning that students will no longer defend their theses in the 2020-2021 school year, which will be replaced by summative evaluation.
“As for the thesis defense, after consultation with all the factors involved, I decided not to support them this school year,” said Monica Anisie of Pro TV News.
“Let’s not forget that theses are defended in only two or three disciplines, otherwise the summative evaluation is carried out. Then, the theses are not defended, but have been replaced by the summative evaluation ”, explained the Minister of Education, according to the cited source.
It will also continue the preparation of students for the National Assessment and Baccalaureate in 2021, said Monica Anisie: “For the 8th and 12th grade students, starting with the second semester, in addition to these lessons we will do, we will have concrete measures. There will be tests. weekly training sessions, available even now for students on the website of the Ministry of Education, we will continue the teleschool program and we will continue face-to-face training ”.
The minister made the announcement under the conditions in which the decision has already been made that all schools in Romania move to the red stage, which involves learning exclusively online.
Yesterday, the National Council of Students showed that the vast majority of students prefer to suspend their semester theses and replace them with another form of summative evaluation. In this sense, more than 76% of the interviewees expressed themselves. On the contrary, 15.3% of the students believe that the evaluation should be supported as before, that is, face to face.
