A judge of the United States Supreme Court on Friday offered President Donald Trump a temporary partial victory in Pennsylvania in his decision that ballots received by mail after November 3 in the state be treated separately from other ballots, reports AFP .

Pennsylvania election law allows ballots to be counted through Tuesday, November 3, and to arrive within three days of the election.
Judge Alito’s decision confirms the pre-electoral order of the local authorities to count these ballots separately so that they can withdraw them in their entirety if they are invalidated.

The request was made by the Pennsylvania Republican Party, which considers these votes invalid (about 4,000 votes according to CNN) largely in favor of Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
The measure ordered by Judge Alito is conservative, pending examination of the case by the Supreme Court, in which conservative magistrates currently have a solid majority.
