Paris will ban culinary delivery and package sales services between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting Friday to limit the spread of COVID-19, police in the French capital announced on Thursday, AFP reported. Reuters.
In addition, the sale and consumption of alcohol in public places will be prohibited at night in Paris from November 6.
President Emmanuel Macron imposed a new one last month emergency shutdown, non-essential stores, such as those that do not sell basic food and medicine, are forced to close. The restaurants, closed due to the lockdown, were able to sell packaged goods and make deliveries, but the Paris police prefecture explained that many customers and couriers meet during the night, despite the recommendation to respect physical distance.
“When there are people who do not follow the rules of the game, putting the health of a large number of people at risk, new restrictions have to be put in place,” Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo told BFM TV.
A French government source said “clandestine parties, private dinners” had been reported in Paris and that stricter measures were needed, according to Agerpres.
France reported 40,558 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours and 385 deaths in the same period on Wednesday. In this country, the total number of people infected by the new coronavirus has reached 1.5 million, and that of deaths from COVID-19 to 38,674.
