On Thursday, two men, ages 20 and 52, assaulted a police station chief in Barcani, Covasna County, where they were called to resolve a petition. Expelled with tear gas, the attackers fired at two other policemen who went after them at home, with arrest warrants, writes Mediafax.

Two men, aged 20 and 52, respectively, are charged with physically assaulting a police officer Thursday morning.

The Romanian police reported that the two men had been summoned to the headquarters of the Barcani Police Station, to resolve a request, but they became recalcitrant and shot in the head of the uniform, at which point one of them hit him.

The two men were immobilized by the police and taken to the Întorsura Buzăului city police headquarters for questioning and ordering legal measures.

IGPR shows that the injured policemen were transferred to a medical unit, in stable condition and out of danger.

Investigations continue under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Întorsura Buzăului Court.

The Directorate of the General Inspection of the Romanian Police ordered verifications, through the Department of Internal Control and SIAS, both within the IGPR, on the way of organizing and carrying out the mission.
