President Klaus Iohannis was asked how he views the strategy of Slovakia, a country that has subjected three-quarters of the population to massive testing, as a measure to limit the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The head of state explained that such a scenario applied to Romania is not taken into account at the moment, motivated by the fact that health experts do not offer a guarantee that massive tests would bring an eloquent result.
“Experts are not convinced that a massive test will produce a tangible result. For example, if the two of us (the president and the journalist who asked the question, no) do the test and the result is negative, either of us can contact with the virus immediately afterward, “he added. Klaus Iohannis said, after the press conference he held in Cotroceni.
“The WHO does not recommend massive tests, but on the basis of an epidemiological investigation, as is currently the case in our country. We are waiting to see what this massive test contributes from Slovakia and if conclusions can be drawn from it. Yes they are clear and recommended, we can think about it ”, concluded the president.
