The police of the German capital are investigating a Syrian youtuber, Fayez Kanfash, who walked the streets of the German capital on Saturday in traditional Arab clothing, holding a strap and pretending to be whipping a person disguised as the president of France.

According to AFP, this disgusting incident occurs in the context in which the leader of the Elysee has become the target of several Muslim countries, after Macron said that he defends the right to caricature, including the Prophet Muhammad, on behalf of freedom of expression and publication.

The French leader made these remarks after the beheading, on October 16, by an Islamist, of a French teacher, Samuel Paty, because he showed the students of the Charlie Hebdo class caricatures of the prophet. This crime has shocked the whole of France, a country heavily affected by terrorist attacks over the years.

“Dressed in a caftan, he pulled an acquaintance of his, who was wearing a wig and a mask representing Macron, with a rope, in the Neukölln district, allegedly insulted him and pretended to be hitting,” the police announced on Twitter on Tuesday night, type news.ro.

The 20-year-old Youtuber, played by Tagesspiegel as Syrian Fayez Kanfash, has lived in Berlin for several years. He has over a million subscribers to his YouTube account.

It is not yet clear whether his act on Saturday was satirical or a protest against the French head of state’s statements on cartoons and freedom of expression.

The police are carrying out investigations in this regard. “Our intention was never to incite violence,” Fayez Kanfash told Reuters.

“We just wanted to say that ‘if freedom of speech allows you to insult our prophet, don’t be offended because it allows us to insult your leaders,'” says Fayez Kanfash.

His YouTube channel contains dozens of videos that seem more entertaining than religious propaganda. Proselytizing, however, seems to play an important role in them.

In one of her latest productions, Fayez Kanfash interviews young Germans in a large market in Berlin, who she asks if they know what to do if they want to convert to Islam. Faced with their ignorance, he asks them to repeat the Muslim faith and offers them a phone or laptop at the end of the recording.

In another video, two imams intervene in the apartment of a person who is dressing, putting a Koran on his head, and chanting religious invocations.
