questions
Kanal D: Have you established a common policy with European leaders, especially regarding night quarantine?
Klaus Iohannis: The field of health is a field of national authority, measures can be correlated as long as there is an agreement between the states. We do not discuss quarantine models, each state has national legislation. It is important to preserve the free movement of goods and the free movement of goods, because we do not want to kill the European economies. We discuss possible measures to harmonize quarantine periods, here there are differences, for some it is 7 days, for others 10, for others 14. In the next Council we will try to implement these measures
Antena 3: Will we have elections in December for 10,000 cases a day?
Klaus Iohannis: At the moment we are not considering canceling the elections. Elections are being held today in the United States, a country heavily affected by the pandemic. We cannot relate to a certain number, we must see the complete evolution
Freedom: Slovakia put the population to the test en masse. Have you talked about such a scenario?
Klaus Iohannis: Slovakia is the only country that has proposed this approach. Experts are not convinced that a massive test will produce a tangible result. The two of us, if we do the test now and the result is negative, but it is likely that one of us will contract the disease tomorrow. WHO does not recommend mass testing but on the basis of epidemiological investigation. We are waiting to see what this massive test brings and if conclusions can be drawn.
TVR: What status will those who refuse to be vaccinated have?
Klaus Iohannis: The pandemic can only end in two ways: either if enough people get sick, God forbid, or if a vaccine is found, and I hope it happens early next year. The restrictions imposed were aimed at mitigating the impact of the pandemic, to have as few diseases as possible until we have the vaccine. We need a vaccine to end the pandemic. The EU will buy these types of safe and effective vaccines. We want very successful actions and these vaccines will comply with all the rules, they will be safe. The restrictions work, without them the health systems would have been far behind
Antenna 1: Do you calculate a temporary quarantine before vaccination?
Klaus Iohannis: We have no reason to impose a state of emergency now. We have every reason to introduce restrictions to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
Agerpres: Should higher fines be imposed on the match organizers?
Klaus Iohannis: It is very clear that restrictions are needed. Unfortunately, not everyone understands it. Where there are no misunderstandings, the measure of restrictions should be imposed. Point and go
G4Media: How are the reported differences between counties justified?
Klaus Iohannis: I received a preliminary response. I had a discussion with the Minister of Health and with Raed Arafat, I asked him to dig a little deeper on the subject and until the next meeting to propose measures to balance the tests between the counties. Responsibility must also lie with the local authority, not just the central one.
The truth: Why is Romania reporting such a high number of deaths?
Klaus Iohannis: The explanations can be found in the recent past, the last 30 years, 20 and something was led by PSD that had a lousy health policy. As a result, public health is not at a good level, we are at the bottom of many rankings. We have said since the first legislature that we must focus on prevention. Until now, we have not reached where we want to be, so we need a profound reform in the field of health, a different type of government. The PNL is the only party that can propose another policy, that can implement genuine reform, together with a large majority in Parliament, which will be formed after the elections. We cannot continue with the bankruptcy system created by PSD. Yes, we will succeed and we will have better public health data. Of the 27 states in the last register of Covid cases, in the incidence of the last two weeks, Romania is in the second part of the ranking, in position 19. But we are in the first part in mortality and that saddens me. The health system has two components, not only the curative, the preventive part is very important. be in general good health. This requires national programs that can be implemented if public health is taken seriously.
B1 TV: Why aren’t the schools reopening?
Klaus Iohannis: There are reviews that recommend the transition from school to online. There are voices that demand reopening, I requested an in-depth analysis and if there are news I will keep you informed with them
Romania TV: Can we go back to quarantine?
Klaus Iohannis: Evolution is fluid, it is difficult to predict what will happen in a week or two. At this point, experts see no need to return to a state of emergency. Gradual measures are needed to prevent the disease from spreading.
DW: Romania is the subject of an environmental infringement procedure
Klaus Iohannis: All these procedures mainly refer to legislation. It is worrying and issues related to the environment, pollution, are issues that I take very seriously and immediately after the elections I will have in-depth discussions with the relevant ministers. The goal is to have a healthy environment, reduce pollution, lead a healthier life together.
Radio Romania: How will the electoral campaign unfold?
Klaus Iohannis: There are no complications when voting. Regarding the campaign, it is obvious that where the incidence is high it will be carried out in the media and online, there will be no other possibility.
Digi 24: We have counties like Cluj with 3000 tests, and Călărași only has 8 tests.
Klaus Iohannis: It is a topic that we discussed, it will probably go deeper, I asked him to review how to take into account certain figures that are obvious. The number of people who go to the emergency room, hospitalized in the ATI, deaths and these things maybe should be counted in the formula that determines where a locality or county is located. The formula is good and it works, but I think that any formula of this type can be refined. My request was to dig a little deeper.
Diaspora.ro News: Is Mr. Rafila’s summons a sign that he will consult with PSD?
Klaus Iohannis: The pandemic has no political color. Dr. Rafila is our representative at WHO and in this capacity he has been invited. Collaboration in this phase is quite difficult to imagine in the conditions in which PNL is in the government and together with me we fight, and PSD sits in a parliamentary majority with which it has always tried to stop and show that it has solutions, simply they do not have.
