The Romanian research team of the company DDS Diagnostic created and launched a new product, the rapid immunochromatographic test Covid-19 Antigen, a qualitative test for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 antigen, in samples of nasopharyngeal tampon.
The test indicates infection in both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals, is easy to use, and provides accurate results within 15 minutes. Clinical trials already conducted by the manufacturer have revealed similar performance to the reference RT-PCR method.
The rapid COVID-19 antigen test, developed and produced by the 100% Romanian company DDS Diagnostic, is a qualitative immunochromatographic test for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigens in nasopharyngeal tampon samples.
This product can be used from the first days after infection, making it very useful to effectively identify and monitor patients suspected of being infected, thus supporting the efforts of medical personnel to limit the effects of the pandemic. Unlike the antibody test, this test detects antigens on the surface of the virus and is therefore recommended to identify infected people who may be sources of infection if they are not quarantined. It is a very effective rapid test for mass screening and can significantly limit new cases of infection.
The COVID-19 Antigen Diagnostic Kit is very easy to use and includes: a plastic stick with a textile swab to collect, a vial with a solution as elution medium and drip, and an antigen test box. The collected sample is introduced into the solution in the bottle and with the help of the dropper it is deposited in the special window for the sample. If the virus is present, there are SARS-CoV-2 antigens and a colored line will appear in the region marked with the letter T and another line in the region marked with the letter C, in which case the test is positive. If the sample does not contain SARS-CoV-2 antigens, only the line will appear in the region marked with the letter C, in which case the test is negative. The colored line must appear next to the letter C, whether the test is positive or negative, to validate the test.
DDS Diagnostic is the first company in Romania to produce this type of test, and it is now available for purchase by patients, healthcare professionals and specialized units in COVID-19 tests. At the same time, the test is very useful for occupational medicine doctors, for periodic tests of employees.
The DDS Diagnostic research and development team of experts has created several products with broad applicability in the current non-rosy pandemic situation to significantly streamline rapid tests. In addition to the Covid-19 antigen, the rapid test manufacturer recently launched IgG / IgM test kits with a test kit included, which significantly eliminates false positive and negative results, greatly improving the accuracy of results. In the next period, DDS will launch the Combo Antigen Influenza / COVID-19 mixed rapid tests for the differential diagnosis of influenza / SARS-COV-2, a unique test with two results at the same time, very useful for the patient and the doctor to identify precise type of viral infection.
