Vienna police confirmed in a statement on Twitter that several shots were fired from six different locations, starting at 8:00 p.m. Several armed suspects are behind the attacks. One person was killed, a police officer was seriously injured and one of the suspects was killed by the police as a result of the exchange of gunfire.
CONFIRMED at the moment:

Authorities said 15 people were injured, 7 of them in serious condition, according to local television stations. Police cars mainly patrol in Sector 11 of the Austrian capital.
UPDATE Shots were also fired inside the Hilton Hotel. Hostages were also taken from two other locations in the city center.
UPDATE The head of Austria’s Jewish community, Oskar Deutsch, said on Twitter that it was possible that the synagogue was not the target of the attacks, but the police officers guarding the building.

TO UPDATE One of the alleged perpetrators of the attack was shot dead by law enforcement and another is being actively searched for.
Members of the Austrian police were seriously injured, the interior minister said.

UPDATE Terrorists attacked at least 4 locations in central Vienna: the synagogue, 2 restaurants, and the Jewish Community Center.
One of the terrorists allegedly blew himself up with an explosive belt. Several accomplices remain at large.
Several shots were fired in the center of Vienna, near the Seitenstettengasse synagogue, according to local authorities. The Vienna police have launched a force majeure operation. All Vienna residents were advised not to leave their homes.
Fires also broke out in the window of a renowned restaurant in central Vienna, Bettelalm. The clients took refuge in the basement of the place.
So far, the authorities have reported one death and several injuries.
