Committee Municipality of Bucharest for emergency situations decided unanimously to extend the restrictive measures for another 14 days until November 16. This means that students will continue to learn online, from home, and the mask will continue to be mandatory in public spaces. At the same time, restaurants and cafes remain closed indoors and activities carried out indoors are prohibited, such as cinemas, performance halls, game rooms.
„The meeting has just ended. It was unanimously decided to keep the measures in force until 12 noon, approved by the previous decision. It was not considered necessary or appropriate to introduce new measures. The measurements will be until November 16 at 12:00. (…) No other restrictive measures have been taken, “said Traian Berbeceanu, the prefect of the Capital.
Traian Berbeceanu also said that the meeting also discussed the measure to close the parks at night, but that it was not finally adopted, because “CMSU cannot adopt this measure due to alleged limitations of rights and freedoms.”
The prefect added that the infection rate in Bucharest is 3.91 per thousand, and such a measure could be taken by decision of the government: „It was decided to notify this matter to the National Committee for Emergency Situations, if it deems it necessary, not only at the Bucharest level but at the national level, so that this measure is taken to a certain degree of contagion. (…) After 22:00, the activity of the terraces ceases, many young people gather in parks and leisure areas of Bucharest and real parties are held without respecting the rules of protection and distance. This is how we evaluate (that there is a risk of contagion, ed.) And we are going to notify the CNSU ”.
The prefect said that no other restrictive measures had been taken “while my colleagues on the Committee and I felt that the existing measures were not being applied well enough. In this sense, we will channel our efforts ”.
Program displacement, not accomplished
Berbeceanu recalled that, by government decision 856, it was imposed that all economic operators and all state or private institutions postpone working hours, but that the measure was not complied with: “Even at the Prefectural level, today I ordered from tomorrow Half of the referees will come at 7 and the other half at 9:00 ”.
He stressed that this measure was not respected in most public institutions.
Regarding the quarantine of some streets, Mayor General Nicușor Dan said it is “an eventual decision, a hypothesis.”
„Let’s not look at those scenarios, let’s see the measures that are in force and that will be maintained in the next two weeks. There are technical aspects, which are taken with the consultation of public order and security structures, with the consultation of doctors. (…) We are not in such a situation ”, added Traian Berbeceanu.
Entry and exit circuits in Bucharest markets
At the same time, controls will be increased in the Bucharest markets and entry and exit circuits will be planned “so that we no longer have large crowds of people in the markets,” said Nicușor Dan.
He said that the local and national police will take care of these flows.
