Three earthquakes occurred on Monday morning in Romania

Three low intensity earthquakes occurred Monday morning in the Vrancea seismic area and in the Vaslui area. The earthquakes had magnitudes of 2.4, 3 and 2.1, according to information published by the National Institute for Research and Development of Earth Physics.

The first earthquake, of magnitude 2.4, occurred at 03:32, in Vaslui county, at a depth of 6 kilometers, and the epicenter was 43 km south of Iasi, 48 km northeast of Bacau, 109 km west of Chisinau and 155 km north of Galati.

At 03.58 there was a new earthquake, magnitude 3, in Vrancea County, at a depth of 100 kilometers. The earthquake took place near the following cities: 72 km east of Brasov, 88 km northeast of Ploiesti, 105 km south of Bacau, 120 km west of Galati, 121 km west of Braila and 140 km north of Bucharest.

Furthermore, at 04.34, also in Vrancea County, there was a weak earthquake with a magnitude of 2.1, at a depth of 75 km.

The most important earthquake this year occurred on January 31, in Vrancea County, at a depth of 121 kilometers, and had a magnitude of 5.2. The earthquake was also felt in Bucharest.
