Influential traffic for employment in the Ambulance and Bârlad hospital: between 1,000 and 7,000 euros per job. Two employees were arrested

Several searches were carried out at the end of last week in Bârlad, in an influence peddling case in which an advocate, Cătălin Romanic, and a hospital employee, Cristina Nanu, were charged. The anti-corruption policemen descended on the houses of the two, respectively at their places of work, from where they took several samples.

“As a result of the evidence provided, the Prosecutor’s Office ordered the continuation of the criminal investigation and subsequently the initiation of a criminal proceeding against two defendants, namely, an employee of the Municipal Emergency Hospital for the commission of three crimes of influence peddling and five crimes of fraud and an employee of the Vaslui County Ambulance Service for committing five crimes of influence peddling and 4 crimes of deception, ”said representatives of the Vaslui Anti-Corruption Service.

According to the researchers, between 2019 and 2020, the ambulance driver and his hospital colleague demanded from several people sums of money between 1,000 and 7,000 euros to facilitate their employment at the Municipal Emergency Hospital of Bârlad, the County Ambulance Service de Vaslui or educational institutions such as medical personnel.
The prosecutor in the case ordered the arrest of the accused for a period of 24 hours. On Saturday, October 31, 2020, the Vaslui Court ordered his preventive detention for 30 days.
