The latest assessment made public by the Romanian Government on the latest cases of illness and death from COVID-19 shows that another 5345 people have been infected with the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while the positive rate has reached 25%, from a total of 21,423 tests carried out on the last day alone. Research by G4Media shows that more than a third of these tests are carried out in Bucharest, while in counties like Calarasi or Ialomita only 8 or 9 tests were carried out in one day.
The small amount of evidence leads to the official report of a small number of confirmed cases with the new coronavirus. According to G4Media, six counties processed fewer than 100 tests per day, affecting the incidence rate of COVID-19 infections per 1,000 residents.
One explanation for the small number of tests carried out in one county is that in the case of Bucharest, where most of the tests are carried out in the country, tests are also carried out for people who come from neighboring counties.
According to the balance on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, published on November 1, there were 36 new infections in Călăraşi in the last 24 hours, in Giurgiu – 31, Gorj – 15, Ialomiţa – 4, Mehedinţi and Teleorman – 30, Tulcea – 35 and Vrancea – 24.
Neither of these counties is currently found. in the red scenario, with an incidence of more than 3 COVID cases per thousand inhabitants, which would lead to the imposition of restrictions by the authorities.
