Nicusor Dan reiterated this Sunday the idea of quarantining certain areas of the Capital, if the measure is required. When asked how to technically quarantine one or more streets, the new mayor replied: “The national police, the gendarmerie and the local police know how to do it.”
Nicușor Dan again stated that he does not consider a general quarantine in Bucharest.
“The Ministry of Health has implemented or is implementing the computer system that shows the location of infected people in real time. This system takes three to four days until it is fully operational. If we see streets or a large crowd or more streets after that system, we can make the local quarantine decision. “Nicusor Dan said.
When asked how he would technically quarantine a certain area, the mayor replied: “I think we can act, because we have a staff of 1,500 people assigned – National Police, Gendarmerie, Local Police – for this matter in everything that means public order ”.
“If we are in a position to take this measure, we will take it,” he added.
Nicușor Dan added that it is not a question of quarantining an entire sector, but it is a hypothesis in which if there is a very high incidence of infections in one or more streets, “there is experience at the law enforcement level on how prevent movement, to allow only the movement of people with special needs ”.
Asked about how to prevent the movement of people, Nicșor Dan said that “it is a matter that will be implemented by the National Police, the Gendarmerie and the Local Police, I know how to do it.”
