According to a press release from the Environmental Fund Administration (AFM), Friday (October 30, 2020) is the last day that legal entities can enroll in the Rabla Clasic and Rabla Plus programs. As many drivers in Romania know, the Rabla 2020 Program started on March 17 and benefited from a budget of 405 million lei.

It has been the largest amount allocated to the program since its implementation to date. In this context, the coordinating authorities of the Rabla Program anticipated that there will be approximately 60,000 beneficiaries. Basically, it will be the highest number in the last 15 years.

Rabla Plus started on March 25

Likewise, about the Scrap Plus Program, it must be said that it began on March 25, 2020. Those who applied for it realized that they have the opportunity to buy a 100% electric or electric plug-in hybrid car.

As a novelty, those responsible for managing the Scrap Program thought of bringing an important addition, for the first time since its launch. Thus, the well-known ecological program allows citizens to buy not only cars, but also electric motorcycles.

It is no longer a novelty that, since its inception, the Scrap Program has proven its effectiveness. At least 600,000 vehicles were out of use and 550,000 new vehicles were purchased in Romania. At least that is what the statistics provided by the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Forests (MMAP) show.

Several green cars were sold

In this context, it is not surprising that sales of green cars in Romania increased by 8.56% in the first nine months, compared to the same period last year. This means that 5,389 units were sold, according to a calculation made by the Automobile Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA).

This happened when, on September 30, 2020, the share of new electric and hybrid cars in the total local car market was 6.4%. For comparison, in the similar period of 2019 it was 4.1%.

“Between January and September 2020, the majority of purchases were in the hybrid car category, respectively 3,427 units, 8.2% less, compared to the first nine months of the previous year. Also, car sales electric vehicles registered a jump of 40.8%, up to 1,407 copies, while the plug-in models were 555 units, more by 141.3%, compared to the reference period ”, shows Agerpres.
