The prefect of Dolj, Nicuşor Roşca, revoked the order by which he had called tomorrow the meeting for the constitution of the new Municipality of Dolj resulting from the local elections of September 27. The reason: One person has questioned the composition of the council, and now the decision rests with the court, which is expected to make a decision next week. Regarding the convocation of the Craiova City Council, the prefect’s order remains in force. The new councilors will meet tomorrow, in the absence of the elected mayor, Olguţa Vasilescu, whose validation as mayor was also challenged in court.

After several weeks of waiting, the Craiova City Council and the Dolj City Council will meet tomorrow on the new political formula resulting from the local elections on September 27.
The prefect of Dolj, Nicuşor Roşca, issued the convocation orders for the establishment of the two councils. The big surprise comes from Craiova, where the councilors will meet in the absence of the elected mayor Olguţa Vasilescu, whose mandate has not yet been definitively validated by the court due to an appeal filed by Petru Becheru, a longtime opponent of the mayor.
Becheru is trying to delay the inauguration of the mayor’s office by Olguţa Vasilescu, asking the court to postpone a decision, because he is on a pilgrimage to the churches in the country.
