The Prime Minister was asked about the statements made by Deputy Prime Minister Raluca Turcan, on Monday, on a television channel, on which occasion she would have spoken of new restrictive measures that the Government would take with respect to shopping centers.
“It is a great concern for me, as Prime Minister, to seriously treat each element of the fight against the pandemic (…) I do not know these statements, we make decisions, when we have to announce decisions we announce them publicly. Perhaps he was referring to theaters in malls or restaurants in malls that are affected by the restrictions that are imposed when the rate of 3 per thousand is exceeded, I do not know exactly the content of the statement.
At present, we do not intend to take other restrictive measures, but we intend to implement the legislation, the government’s decision on alertness, joint orders. Basically, to implement the ordered measures to exceed each established threshold ”, said Ludovic Orban, in Paris, quoted by Agerpres.
Deputy Prime Minister Raluca Turcan said that the Executive does not want to block economic activity and measures such as the closure of malls would not be taken until the last resort, when there would be no intermediate steps. However, additional measures could be taken in the shopping centers: several disinfectant dispensers, monitoring the use of masks, he said.
Will Romania take the step towards the OECD?
The prime minister mentioned that, at the end of his visit to Paris, he has scheduled, for Tuesday night, a meeting with members of the Romanian community in France.
On the second day of his official visit with a team of ministers to France, Orban met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Ángel Gurría, and then attended a meeting in the plenary of the OECD. .
The Prime Minister stated that he supported Romania’s candidacy to become a member of the OECD: “We consider that we have all the arguments, Romania is the most prepared country on the list of those who want to join. Without becoming members, we participate in all OECD activities, in all sessions and workshops, being one of the most active non-member countries. Our goal is to make Romania more and more attractive for major investments ”.
