In the last 24 hours, 5,343 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported, a new record for coronavirus infections since the start of the pandemic. Furthermore, 107 Romanians died on the last day, the highest number of deaths recorded so far.

To date, on October 28, in Romania, 222,559 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed. 159,855 patients were declared cured.

In addition, the Capital and 5 other municipalities have a contagion rate higher than 3 per thousand inhabitants. In Cluj, the infection rate reached 4.09.

After tests conducted at the national level, compared to the last report, 5,343 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

To date, 6,681 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 27.10.2020 (10:00) – 28.10.2020 (10:00) 107 deaths were reported (60 men and 47 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacău, Bistrița- Năsăud, Botoșani, Brașov, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Covasna, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Mureș, Olt, Prahova, Sălajcea, Sibiu and the municipality of Suva, Suva.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 0 to 9 years, 2 in the age category 30 to 39 years, 7 deaths were recorded in the category 40 to 49 years, 17 deaths in the age category from 50 to 59 years. years, 16 deaths in the age group 60 to 69 years, 38 deaths in the age group 70 to 79 years and 26 deaths in the category over 80 years.

100 of the registered deaths are from some patients who presented comorbidities, 1 deceased patient did not present comorbidities and for 6 deceased patients, no comorbidities have been reported to date.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 10,934. Of these, 861 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 3,133,809 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 36,815 were performed in the last 24 hours, 22,641 based on the definition of the case and medical protocol and 14,174 upon request.

Likewise, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 468 tests processed before the last 24 hours and delivered until October 28 have been reported.

In Romanian territory, 27,280 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 9,931 people are in institutionalized isolation. Additionally, 50,565 people are in home quarantine and 52 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 2,823 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 1,082 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 6,302 penalties for minor offenses, amounting to 962,800 lei.

Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, 7 crimes were found yesterday to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where infractions to health protection regulations can be notified.

The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 6,851 Romanian citizens were infected by COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,934 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,017 in Germany, 159 in the United Kingdom, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus , 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, the Republic of the Congo, Qatar , the Vatican and Portugal.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, they have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
