Alexandru Rafila criticized, this Tuesday, during a press conference at PSD headquarters, the way in which the authorities communicated information about the pandemic, saying that it was “the weakest point” during this period.
“Communication was the weakest point in this pandemic. This is a point of view that I expressed repeatedly long before I was invited to join PSD.
Some dry figures and repetitive information on the use of the mask I do not think they are enough to convince people that we are a system, we are a country that can handle this pandemic.
The messages must be adapted, professional, to take into account the evolution of the pandemic.
We had the same type of message in June, when things were under control, and we have the same type of message now, when they are no longer under control. You work in the press. Has anything changed in terms of the information you receive? Every day he receives information on the number of new cases, the number of deaths, the number of people admitted to Intensive Care, etc. Transmission information needs to be analyzed in more depth, in Bra condadoov county, for example. Is there information about Brașov county? Beyond the numbers, where do we have problems, what are the ways of transmitting the infection? What should the population consider to avoid infection in an affected county? We don’t have that kind of information.
You have to have balance, good faith and be honest when you talk to people, to tell them the truth. An informed man, who knows that the one in front of him is telling the truth, has much more confidence even if the information he receives affects him, ”said Alexandru Rafila, director of the Romanian Society for Microbiology.
