The Minister of Health, Nelu Tătaru, announced on Tuesday that the first doses of the anti-Covid vaccine will arrive in Romania at the end of December, and from January the vaccination of medical personnel would begin.
“We have a first section that should arrive at the end of December and begin in January. Our intention is – and in the planning we have – that medical personnel are vaccinated at that time, so that they have a solid first line,” said the Minister of Health, in the Profit Health Forum videoconference.
The minister specified that it is the vaccine contracted by the European Commission.
At the same time, Tataru said that in recent weeks the effort of the authorities has been to expand intensive care facilities. Thus, if the coronavirus pandemic found Romania, 8 months ago, with a number of 740 ATI beds, it has now reached 1,200, and in the next period 1,400 beds will be provided.
