Message from Nicusor Dan:
- “The Bucharest Court of Appeal today made the natural decision to reject the PSD’s resources totally unjustified with respect to the local elections a month ago and validated the mandate of Mayor General of the Capital, granted by citizens.
- This week I will be able to officially take office and we will start building New Bucharest together, that is, to make a good city for honest people.
- I thank the people of Bucharest again for the confidence expressed at the polls and for the desire to bring about change in this virulent city by an incompetent administration. We see each other in the oath and then, day by day, as partners. “
The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected on Monday at the latest the 52 appeals filed by PSD representatives challenging the validation of Nicusor Dan’s mandate: “It admits the exception of delay. It rejects all appeals for delay.”
Nicusor Dan’s mandate was validated by the Bucharest Court on October 12, but the court’s decision was later challenged by former and current PSD advisers.
According to the procedure, the prefect of Bucharest must convene a meeting of the CGMB, at which both the councilors and the mayor of the Capital will be sworn in.
Clotilde Armand is in the same situation, who could not take over her mandate as Mayor of Sector 1 because 120 appeals were filed in the courts.
Nicușor Dan said, on Sunday evening, on B1TV, that on Thursday or Friday at the latest, he will be installed in the City Hall of the capital.
He said it was “somewhat confusing” because many people have the impression that he has been mayor for a month, during which time he has not held any office. According to the law, the incumbent mayor is the one who was elected in 2016, Gabriela Firea, who will remain until Thursday, Friday, when Nicușor Dan awaits to be installed. “So the responsibility for everything that happens in Bucharest rests with him until then,” he stressed.
Asked about what he did in that month in which he could not take office, the elected mayor said that he avoided opening media conflicts and addressed the relationship with other authorities on which his activity as mayor will depend.
On Thursday, Nicușor Dan, held a press conference in front of the City Hall of the Capital, where he announced that the inauguration of his mandate will be delayed at least one week, due to the irresponsible attitude of the PSD, which filed 52 appeals against the decision to validate the mandate. or.
He said that in the 52 notifications (appeals) presented by former or current PSD councilors to the court’s decision to validate his mandate as mayor, “ridiculous reasons” are invoked, speaking of electoral fraud “in the same conspiratorial style with which PSD it’s gotten us used to it in recent years, “and these are copy-pastes, all with the same grammatical errors. “It requires nothing less than the resumption of local elections in Bucharest, if you can believe it,” said Nicusor Dan.
The mayor-elect of the Capital also stated that “deliberately” a difficult winter is being prepared for the people of Bucharest, by delaying the inauguration of his mandate, due to the appeals.
“Deliberately preparing a harsh winter for the people of Bucharest with regard to heating service, precisely because, in the familiar style, PSD blames the new administration for not being able to solve the problems of the city,” said Nicusor Dan.
When asked what a harsh winter means, Nicușor Dan replied: “Bucharest will have three major problems in the coming days: the medical crisis, the heat and hot water crisis and the financial crisis. When we talked about the harsh winter, I meant to the crisis of heat and hot water, because some preliminary measures are needed, stocks of materials for emergency interventions, the preparation of intervention teams and I have no information that these things are happening ”.
