In the early 2000s, Traian Berbeceanu, then head of the Hunedoara Anti-Drug and Organized Crime Service (SCCOA), often distinguished himself from his fellow police officers by his non-conformist style that he displayed during his public appearances.
Sportswear and sweatshirts were almost essential in the clothing of the current prefect of the Capital, whether at work or at press conferences.
Traian Berbeceanu even wore an earring on his left ear, according to photos taken by Traian Manu in 2005.
During the current public appearances, Traian Berbeceanu was forced to renounce the style of clothing with which he was accustomed to his acquaintances at the time when he distinguished himself in his work as a policeman, preferring elegant suits.

Traian Berbeceanu worked in the Police for 25 years, until his retirement in 2018 and led the Alba Iulia Brigade Against Organized Crime between 2005 and 2013, until his indictment. In 2007 he received the distinction of Police of the Year in Romania for the de-structuring of the Hunedoara Junk Mafia, in the Hunedoara Junk Mafia archive called “Hydra”.
In December 2019, Traian Berbeceanu became Interior Minister Marcel Vela’s chief of staff and in June 2020 he joined the National Liberal Party. He ran on the Hunedoara county council rolls, representing the PNL, but with his recent appointment as prefect of the Capital, he resigned from the mandate obtained in the Provincial Council.
