Prime Minister Ludovic Orban says cThe Romanian authorities are waiting to see what effect the night traffic restriction has on the countries that have taken this measure, before making a decision. He says that the objective of this measure is especially young people who attend private parties, since they have proven to be the main sources of infection by COVID-19.
„When we have something to announce on this topic, we will announce it. For now, we want to see the effects in other countries where the measure is applied. We know that this restriction affects less mature population. Especially teenagers are those who are active after 23.00. But let’s see the effects in other countries, “Orban said, responding to a question from reporters.
„On the other hand, let’s see the effect of the measures that we have already taken, which are important measures: the transition from education to the Internet, the mandatory use of a mask, the closing of theaters, cinemas, restaurants. There are measures that reduce social interaction and that we believe will generate effects. In fact, in Bucharest we can see that for now we are on a plateau, the number of cases has not increased ”, he added.
Orban said that private parts have been shown to be the main source of COVID-19 infection, based on the results of epidemiological investigations.
„You know that I decided not to allow the organization of private events – weddings, baptisms, festive meals, celebrations in event venues or restaurants, because these events were the first cause of contagion in epidemiological investigations. Of course, they can still be arranged, but only in private spaces. Our advice is to refrain from including young people, adolescents, to participate in this type of private parties, “added the prime minister.
Orban said Saturday that a possible decision to restrict traffic at night due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is being evaluated.
„We are evaluating such a decision, we want to see instead the effect of the measures that we have established by law and by the Government’s Decision to extend the alert state in case of exceeding the index from 3 to 1000. It is evaluated because there are already important localities, including Bucharest, where we follow the results of the application of the current measures, “said Orban.
