He was convicted of various economic crimes, including money laundering, tax evasion, but also for fraud, improper participation in counterfeit material in official documents, use of forgery, fraud in the quality of goods, delivery of bribery, fictitious transfer of actions of the company, in order to evade prosecution and arrests multiple times. The businessman was behind bars for three years.
Complicated case of giving and receiving bribes
In one of the cases, he was charged with fraud with discovered verification tokens, a crime punishable by imprisonment for 10 to 20 years. The damage was 5.7 billion lei and the businessman received a 4-year prison sentence. Later, two lawyers and two judges for Dolj were arrested on charges of influence peddling, complicity in bribery and bribery.
And this after the defenders of the accused intervened before the magistrates to apply lighter punishments to their clients and offered them 45,000 euros.
