Why Romania ranks second in Europe in mortality caused by Covid-19. Nelu Tătaru’s explanation

Mortality related to the coronavirus is very high in our country and the way it is reported, explained the Minister of Health.

Compared to other countries, Romania chose to report unit deaths caused by SARS-VOC-2, regardless of whether patients had comorbidities or not.

Nelu Tătaru explained that in the vast majority of cases, coronavirus-infected patients who have other conditions that they have been suffering from for a long time die. “After a long suffering”.

“Mortality is given by severe cases, cases with comorbidities, after a long period, let’s say, of suffering and fighting the disease in intensive care. There are concomitant pathologies, there are decompensated pathologies in these seven months and at the same time there are limited resources in this disease. We are talking about an effective mortality given SARS-CoV-2, but there is also a mortality given by the decompensations of these chronic diseases. We have chosen to report all deaths, “said Nelu Tătaru on Friday, during a visit to Iași.
