Today, I express my gratitude to the hero-soldiers who fell on the battlefield for the defense of the homeland and I pay tribute to the survivors, the war veterans. His love and duty for the country are lasting examples for the young generation.

The Romanian army, worthy of its past and its heroes, remains, for the Romanian people, the same moral landmark. “

“But we are living in times that force us to look at the Army from another perspective, namely, one in which its soldiers are immersed in a different war, with an invisible enemy that is very difficult to fight, the new coronavirus.

The participation of the Romanian army in this national effort, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, has been exemplary.

The specialized personnel and the most appropriate means available to the Army have contributed significantly to protecting and saving the lives of citizens and limiting the spread of this disease as much as possible.

I celebrate the efforts of the military doctors and their total dedication from the first signs of the virus in our country.

At the same time, I am grateful for the participation of the military and civilian personnel of the Romanian army who had specific missions during the establishment of the state of emergency and, subsequently, the declaration of the state of alert, further proof of the constant support provided to the national authorities to make facing the current health crisis.

The Romanian army is prepared not only to defend the population and the territory against any external aggression, but also to support central and local authorities in crisis situations.

On this special day, the first-year students of the Military-Medical Institute took the military oath, an expression of devotion to the nation and the homeland, the threshold of maturity and responsibility.

Dear students, you have sworn in front of the battle flag on which the motto “Honor and Fatherland” is written, words that express the supreme moral duty. I am convinced that you will respond with honor to the trust that the citizens of the country have in you.

Likewise, as a token of appreciation and gratitude for the special results obtained in the educational process, I delivered the Battle Flag to the Military-Medical Institute.

On the occasion of the Romanian Army Day, I also want to express my appreciation for the uninterrupted participation in missions and exercises with the partners of the North Atlantic Alliance and for the continuation of education and training activities, even in this very difficult period.

This demonstrates the rigor and discipline of a modern and flexible army, connected and adapted to the realities and challenges of contemporary society.

Dear military personnel, thank you for your sacrifices and dedication and I wish you success in your missions. “
