The Legal Commission of the Chamber of Deputies on Friday delivered a favorable report on the lifting of the immunity of the Pro Romania deputy, Nicolae Bănicioiu, former Minister of Health, accused of influence peddling and bribery. The report was approved by 19 votes to 2 and 2 votes in favor.

Deputy Nicolae Bănicioiu, who appeared at the Legal Commission meeting on Friday, declared that all the accusations against him are “lies”.

The deputies will vote, on Tuesday, in plenary session, to lift Bănicioiu’s immunity. The vote will be secret, with balls.

The DNA prosecutors demand the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of the deputy Nicolae Bănicioiu, former Minister of Health of the Government of Ponta, to be investigated in a case in which he is accused of influence peddling and bribery.

Bănicioiu allegedly claimed, in the period 2012-2014, almost a million euros to use his influence and appoint hospital managers that two businessmen could control and allocate sums of money to the hospitals with which they had contracts. .
