The capital’s elected mayor, Nicuşor Dan, says his inauguration will be delayed for at least one more week, after 52 appeals have been filed in court. She accuses Gabriela Firea, the current mayor, of having her subordinates sign these resources without her signing them.
“In Bucharest, at the General City Hall, we will wait at least one more week due to the irresponsible attitude of the PSD,” said Nicuşor Dan, at a press conference.
He said there were more than 50 calls to validate his term as mayor, with “ridiculous reasons” and “conspiracy-style” accusations.
“Neither more nor less is required, after 4 weeks, the resumption of local elections in Bucharest, if you can imagine,” he added.
The elected mayor of the Capital sounds like the 52 appeals are copied one after another, including grammatical errors. Yesterday, Dan said the callers are former or current PSD councilors.
“In the last 4 weeks, the mayor of Bucharest was Gabriela Firea. If someone has problems with hot water, they should ask the incumbent mayor of Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, and not me. It is a mayor who has abandoned his mandate, their legal obligations, ”he said.
“I notice the cowardice of Gabriela Firea who made her subordinates sign these appeals and they did not sign herself, if she really wants to challenge the result of the election,” he continued.
Nicușor Dan says that one of the reasons for the delay in the change of administration is the “interest octopus” of the capital city council.
“That’s why they procrastinate, that these people cover things they did, that they issue documents to regularize certain things they did,” he said.
