The mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Emil Boc, explained why it smells bad in all neighborhoods of the city.
He says that this unpleasant stage is the last step in the long and difficult road to dispose of the garbage collected for five years on the temporary ramp of the Cluj-Napoca Autonomous Region of Public Domain (RADP).
“You received the official response that both the City Council and the RADP sent, they also communicated it to me. With the opening of the CMID, there is an obligation to transfer the waste from the temporary landfill where the garbage has been deposited for five years to the new landfill. It was an unfortunate combination of several factors, mainly atmospheric, on the other hand the rather large amount transferred and that generated this extremely unpleasant situation, “explained the mayor, this Wednesday, at a press conference.
“It is the price we pay because we do not keep the garbage on the street”
The mayor assures that the authorities are “sensitized” and “trying to reduce” the negative impact caused by the relocation of rotten waste. He also hopes that this attempt “already feels” to improve air quality in the city.
I also discussed with the authorized factors and agreed that in the future these measures should be taken in a limited way and taking into account the atmospheric conditions that do not favor the transmission of the odor caused by the transfer of this amount of waste that I deposited for five years. It did not have a final deposit. It is the price we have to pay for the fact that we do not keep the garbage on the street from 2015 to 2020. We had no where to take the garbage for 5 years, we had to look for those temporary solutions to remove the garbage from the street in an authorized place ”, affirmed Emil Boc.
