As of Wednesday, October 21, in Romania, 191,102 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) were confirmed.
137,835 patients were declared cured.
Apart from the recently confirmed cases, after reassessment of the patients who were already positive, 773 people were positively reconfirmed.
Until today, 6,065 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection died.
Between 20.10.2020 (10:00) – 21.10.2020 (10:00) 69 deaths (44 men and 25 women) were reported, of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacau, Bistriţa- Năsăud, Brăila, Caraş-Severin, Cluj, Constanţa, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iaşi, Maramureş, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiş, Ilfov and Bucharest.
Of these, 10 deaths were recorded in the age category 50 to 59 years, 18 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 18 deaths in the age category 70 to 79 years, and 23 deaths in the age group age over 80 years.
65 of the deaths registered were of some patients who presented comorbidities and 4 deceased patients did not present comorbidities.
In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 10,250. Of these, 766 are hospitalized in ATI.
To date, 2,927,096 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 37,025 were carried out in the last 24 hours, 22,388 according to the case definition and medical protocol and 14,637 upon request.
On the territory of Romania, 20.593 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 9,808 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 50,162 people are in home quarantine and 51 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 2,296 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 949 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform the public.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 6,091 penalties for minor offenses, amounting to 845,200 lei.
Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday 14 crimes were found to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

Of these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age category 40 to 49 years, 6 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 12 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 23 deaths in the age category of age 70 to 79 years. years and 22 deaths in the category of over 80 years.
61 of the registered deaths are of some patients who presented comorbidities, 1 deceased patient did not present comorbidities and of 3 deceased patients, no comorbidities have been reported to date.

Ludovic Orban announced the main measures after exceeding the infection rate of 3 per thousand inhabitants:
– Mandatory use of a mask in all open spaces, together with closed spaces
– Suspension of school courses and organization of online classes in all schools
– Suspension of activities in theaters, cinemas, restaurants, cafes inside
Schools, theaters, cinemas, restaurants and cafes in the closed spaces of the Capital are closing, announces Prime Minister Ludovic Orban. Parents will receive 75% of salary for the time they stay at home with their children.
The municipal committee for Emergency Situations should implement these measures and come up with an implementation plan, the prime minister added.
On the discomfort of parents, the prime minister said that an emergency ordinance is being adopted, which will be approved on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week and that provides for the insurance of 75% of the salary of the parent who stays at home with the boy.
The prime minister added that, in his opinion, once the DSP transmits the 3.02 rate, “the situation cannot be reversed”: “I see no reason why it can go back.”
Regarding the student tablets, Orban said that, as far as he knows, they were distributed in Bucharest or are “being distributed”.
Responding to another question about the possible quarantine of the Capital, the Prime Minister declared that the discussion is premature.
“We are in the analysis of possible other measures. We will request the use of other methods to reduce the risk if necessary.”
