Radu Preda, leader of the Social Democratic senators, announced on his Facebook page that he has resigned from the PSD and that he will stand for the PMP parliamentary elections in the Romanian Senate.

The politician says that, after 14 years of work in the PSD, the Social Democrats proposed him to run for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies “on reserves.”

“After 14 years of work in the Social Democratic Party and after four years in which I made a continuous effort to fulfill my duty with very good results in the Romanian Senate as Senator of PSD Dolj, the team I belong to proposed me Candidate to the Chamber of Deputies in eleventh place, place in reserves.

This is the culmination of a long period, in which I worked hard for the PSD team all the time on line 1, with no compromises and no half measures. Today our paths are splitting. My political work will continue from now on in a small team, but it has opened a great door for me. I will be the candidate of PMP Dolj for the Romanian Senate, in the first place, I am still the same man that many of you already know and I wait for you with me. There would be more to say, but I think this is not the right place or time, ”wrote Radu Preda on Facebook.
