The deputies and senators vote for the appointment of the president of the Legislative Council. PSD deputy Florin Iordache and former CCR judge Augustin Zegrean are fighting for the position.

On Tuesday, 3 candidates were presented for the leadership of the Legislative Council. The three candidates trying to get the position are PSD deputy Florin Iordache, former CCR president Augustin Zegrean and Ionuț Duli Mazâlu, current secretary of the Legislative Council.

The leader of the Liberal deputies, Florin Román, announced in the plenary session of Parliament that the PNL supports Augustin Zegrean.

“The PNL group supports for the leadership of the Legislative Council the former president of the RCC, Augustin Zegrean, an integral, competent person, who maintained a balanced line for the RCC. I believe that no shadow can fall on the judge, ”said Roman.

In the case of the former Minister of Justice, Florin Iordache, the PSD tries to impose him on the leadership of the Legislative Council as a reward to the party for his departure from the parliamentary lists.

The office of President of the Legislative Council is for life. The chiefs here, appointed by the vote of senators and deputies, have no term limit and there is no procedure by which they can be revoked. Therefore, they cannot be changed and can remain in office until the end of their lives.

According to the former president’s wealth declaration, he was paid a salary of 12,000 lei per month.

The Legislative Council is an important institution for the legislative process. Employees here support all laws presented to Parliament so that regulations do not overlap, do not contradict provisions of other laws or do not contradict the Constitution. This maintains a somewhat coherent legislative framework.

Former CCR judge, Toni Greblă, and former Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice, Mariana Moț, also assumed the leadership of the Legislative Council.

The deputies and senators will also elect the future president of the Official Legislation and Documentation Evidence Section, within the Legislative Council.

The vote of the deputies and senators is secret, with ballots.
