In the last 24 hours, 2,466 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, out of just 8,040 tests. Another 59 deaths were reported by the authorities, while in Intensive Care there are 757 patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

To date, on October 19, in Romania, 182,854 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

132,082 patients were declared cured.

Following tests conducted nationwide, compared to the last report, 2,466 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

Apart from the recently confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 322 people were positively reconfirmed.

To date, 5,931 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 18.10.2020 (10:00) – 19.10.2020 (10:00) 59 deaths were reported (26 men and 33 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Brăila, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Iași, Maramureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiș, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest.

Of these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age category 40 to 49 years, 6 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 18 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 22 deaths in the age category of age 70 to 79 years. years and 11 deaths in the category of over 80 years.

All deaths were in patients with comorbidities.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 10,296. Of these, 757 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 2,860,226 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 8,040 were performed in the last 24 hours, 5,681 according to case definition and medical protocol, and 2,359 upon request.

In Romania, 20,968 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 9,678 people are in institutional isolation. Additionally, 47,407 people are in home quarantine and 48 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 1,227 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 7,084 sanctions for minor offenses, in the amount of 1,497,210 lei.

Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday 12 crimes were found to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the public that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where infractions to sanitary protection regulations can be notified.

The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified matters.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 6,829 Romanian citizens were infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,917 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,013 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 122 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus , 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of the Congo, Qatar, the Vatican and Portugal.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece, they have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
