However, difficult cases are those with large deviations from the normal development of the jaws, which can no longer be resolved with a simple dental appliance and which also require surgical treatment associated with orthodontic treatment.
One of these cases is, for example, that of an adult patient, aged 22, with a marked mandibular prognathism (excessive development of the jaw) that required, in addition to wearing the devices, a surgical intervention. The total duration of the treatment was 3 years, but it had a great impact on the psyche of the patient, who has always suffered from the facial deformity caused by the anomaly, ”said Dr. Denisa Zaharia, PerfectDent orthodontist, for DC News.
