Dr. Denisa Zaharia, PerfectDent orthodontist, spoke to DC News about the worst case she ever had.

Dr. Denisa Zaharia told us about the duration of the treatment, the age of the patient and, more precisely, his problem. The end was a tremendously important change not only aesthetically and health, but also mental.

“We tend to believe that if the dento-alveolar disharmony is greater, the case is more serious, but, in reality, an important role is played by the psychological impact of dental problems on the patient, how they perceive the abnormality they have. There are abnormalities that, from the doctor’s point of view, are not serious, they are easy to treat, but they are very important to the patient.

However, difficult cases are those with large deviations from the normal development of the jaws, which can no longer be resolved with a simple dental appliance and which also require surgical treatment associated with orthodontic treatment.

One of these cases is, for example, that of an adult patient, aged 22, with a marked mandibular prognathism (excessive development of the jaw) that required, in addition to wearing the devices, a surgical intervention. The total duration of the treatment was 3 years, but it had a great impact on the psyche of the patient, who has always suffered from the facial deformity caused by the anomaly, ”said Dr. Denisa Zaharia, PerfectDent orthodontist, for DC News.
