National Defense Minister Nicolae Ciucă announced that, together with Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, he had made the decision to become a member of the National Liberal Party and to stand on the PNL Dolj lists in parliamentary elections.
“I made the decision, together with Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, to become a member of the National Liberal Party and run on the party lists in the Dolj section. It was an issue that I accepted considering that there was a lot of talk about the need for people. who have worked in other fields, professionals, I understood and made this decision, it is personal and assumed, I considered it a fair game and compared to my status as an ex-military, I expected a year and it is an important step. “We are not changing now, it is a matter of adapting. I have not done politics, I don’t know much about what it really means to do politics instead, I can do things as I did in my military career”, declared Nicolae Ciucă on Sunday.
Regarding his permanence as Minister of Defense after the parliamentary elections, should the PNL form a Government, Nicolae Ciucă has shown that it will remain at the discretion of the person appointed to form the Executive.
“I think it will be a decision that corresponds to the prime minister and the one who will be appointed to form a government, if they ask me I will not say no, because it is only about continuity,” said Ciuca.
The Defense Minister also pointed out that, although he has not yet drawn up a candidacy, he will surely insist on the set of laws that govern the field of Defense.
“It is a bit early to be able to commit to an approach of this type, there is certainly a need to review the set of laws that apply in the field of Defense, a whole series of new challenges have arisen, there is much discussion about what it means resilience at the national level and not only, as such it will be necessary to work and identify new bills through which we will increase the country’s resilience capacity ”, Nicolae Ciucă also said.
The president of the PNL, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, had previously announced that the Minister of National Defense, Nicolae Ciucă, had decided to join the PNL and will be this party’s candidate for the Senate.
“It is an honor for me that Minister Ciucă has decided to take this step of participation. Mr. Ciucă has served his country until now and will serve his country from now on. He will be a candidate for Parliament. Personally, as President of I will nominate him as a candidate for the Senate, ”said Ludovic Orban.
