The prefect of the Capital, Gheorghe Cojanu, announced on Sunday evening that there are no more places for intensive care in Bucharest, that the Colentina Hospital will become a complete COVID unit, and the doctors and nurses of the schools in the red stage will be assigned to COVID hospitals. He stated that these decisions were made in a meeting of the prefects with the head of DSU, Raed Arafat.
Prefect announcement:
- “There are no more places in ATI in Bucharest. Now a ministerial order is being signed and tomorrow the Colentina Hospital will become a full COVID hospital, so there will be 300-400 places to treat COVID patients. This is great news.
- A mobile unit was sent to the “Marius Nasta” Hospital and the doctors will be assigned to guarantee this mobile unit.
- Also related to the lack of beds, Floreasca and Elias hospitals will collaborate to provide medical staff for the modular hospital in Elias.
- School doctors and nurses from schools that have passed the red script, so that they no longer have children in school, will be assigned to hospitals that treat patients with COVID. “
The prefect made these statements on Sunday night, at the headquarters of the Prefecture.
The Prefect of the Capital also announced that on Monday, starting at 3:00 p.m., the Bucharest Emergency Situations Committee will meet.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban announced the main measures that will be applied in the Capital once the contagion rate of 3 per thousand inhabitants is exceeded:
- Obligation to wear a mask in all open spaces, together with closed spaces
- Suspension of school classes and organization of online classes in all schools
- Suspension of activities in theaters, cinemas, restaurants, cafes
According to the decision of the Government on the extension of the alert state, within the following 24 hours, DSP transmits to the prefecture the data on the infection rate, and the prefect summons the Committee of Emergency Situations within 48 hours to decide on the implementation of the measures.
