Monica Anisie, the Minister of Education, declared on Sunday, on Digi24, that Bucharest schools will be closed “most likely” on Tuesday, by decision of the Municipal Committee for Emergency Situations, after the Capital exceeded the threshold of three cases per thousand inhabitants. Classes will be held exclusively online, added the minister.
“As of tomorrow (Monday – no) the children go to school,” Minister Anisie said, specifying that, although in Bucharest the threshold of three cases per thousand inhabitants was reached, the decision to close schools it is taken by the Municipal Committee for Emergency Situations. after the information received from the Directorate of Public Health.
“DSP will present the epidemiological situation to the Committee for Emergency Situations. Depending on the situation and the number of outbreaks in schools, the Committee for Emergency Situations in Bucharest may decide to temporarily suspend the courses for 14 days,” the minister explained the procedure.
Monica Anisie anticipates that the Committee’s solution will be to close the schools in Bucharest and move to exclusively online education.
“Most likely, face-to-face classes will be suspended starting Tuesday, but will continue online,” Anisie added.
The minister added that the tablets for the online classes were distributed to those who requested it, and parents will be able to take a break to stay home with their children.
“The tablets were delivered in Bucharest. The Ministry delivered them on September 25, at the time the inspectors distributed the tablets,” said Monica Anisie, specifying that in the Capital they delivered 8,057 tablets by order through the Ministry of Education.
“I’ve been through a situation like this before (in the spring, during the state of emergency, no). The government has issued an emergency ordinance so that parents can stay home to supervise their children, if they switch to the red stage” said the Minister of Education.
Bucharest registered 3 cases per thousand inhabitants on Sunday and, according to the authorities, this is the threshold at which a town enters the red scenario. Gheorghe Cojanu, the prefect of the Capital, declared that he does not consider the convening of the Municipal Committee for Emergency Situations for this day.
“No. The legislation states that in 48 hours the county and municipal emergency committees meet after exceeding a rate of 3. So if it was announced today, 48 hours means Monday and Tuesday. 3.02 is too little exceeded to scare the We will see, above all, that the rate at which we orient ourselves is the one that we communicated on Monday. Every month the rate corresponding to the previous 14 days is communicated, “said Gheorghe Cojanu.
