The Turkish president stated that the deposit is at a depth of almost 4,500 m.
In August, Erdogan announced that the field contained 320 billion cubic meters of natural gas, the largest such discovery in Turkey’s history.
The area is near the perimeter of Neptune, where the largest gas field in the Black Sea in decades was discovered eight years ago.
Erdogan said two months ago that the discovery was made in the Tuna-1 sector and early data shows “that the field is part of a much larger reserve.”
“God has opened a door to invisible riches. Our goal is to put the gases of our sea at the service of our nation by 2023,” he continued.
Later, in the context of the territorial dispute with Greece, Erdogan said that “Turkey will take its rightful place in the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean (…) We will not make any concessions on what belongs to us.” .
