It was the last night of fun in several European capitals that have imposed a series of restrictions since Saturday. In Paris, people rushed to eat in the city because, as of 9:00 p.m., the traffic restrictions went into effect. And in London, the bars and restaurants downtown were full of eyes.

The bars in central London were packed last night. Thousands of people took to the streets, without masks and without respecting physical distance, wanting to enjoy the last moments of fun, before the new restrictions came into force. There were also incidents with the police.
Residents of the British capital can no longer meet indoors with people from other households. The ban applies to both private homes and public spaces, such as bars or restaurants. Meetings in open public spaces, such as terraces, are allowed for groups of up to six people.
“There were many people, everyone wanted to enjoy the last moments of freedom. Yes, but we try to be responsible, ”said two young people who were not wearing protective masks.
Night quarantine in Paris and 8 other cities
And in Paris it was the last night of fun before the new restrictions went into effect. Nobody can go out after 9:00 p.m., until 6 a.m., in the region of the French capital, but also in eight other metropolises of the Hexagon. All bars, restaurants, theaters and cinemas must close before 21:00. The measure affects 20 million people and has been in effect for at least a month.
“We wanted to meet our friends tonight, because this is the last time we can do this. We talked, we set up the meeting and we decided that we definitely had to see each other, because after tonight it will be complicated, we will no longer be able to do that,” explains a customer of a restaurant.
For Paris bars, already affected by the three-month spring quarantine, the traffic ban is another blow.
“It will be even more difficult, it was so difficult not to sell alcohol after 10pm, but neither to serve dinner! We will achieve only 40% of the turnover, it will be very difficult ”, says the manager of a store.
The United Kingdom and France have adopted new restrictions after facing an explosion in the number of infections from the new coronavirus. In Spain, the richest region, Catalonia, closed bars and restaurants for 15 days. The measures come days after the Community of Madrid was placed in a state of emergency.
But the pandemic is wreaking havoc in several European countries. The United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic recorded the most new cases within 24 hours.
