UPDATE The French counter-terrorism prosecutor’s office announced on Friday that it was notified after a man was beheaded in Conflans Saint-Honorine, near Paris, and his alleged attacker was seriously injured by police in a nearby town and later died, according to AFP.
TO UPDATE According to a police source, the victim is a history teacher from Conflans Sainte-Honorine, in the Paris region, who recently showed his students cartoons of Muhammad for an hour. The teacher was killed on the public highway not far from his school in Bois d’Aulne, in Conflans, added the same source.

The investigation of these events was opened for “homicide in relation to a terrorist act” and “terrorist criminal association,” the National Antiterrorist Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) informed AFP.
Police from the Conflans Saint-Honorine crime squad, about 50 miles northwest of Paris, were called in by a suspect who was wandering around a school, according to the source.
At the scene, the police discovered the victim and 200 meters, in the town of Eragny, they tried to arrest a man carrying a knife, who threatened and shot them, seriously wounding him. Later he died.
A security perimeter was installed and the demining service was called on suspicion of explosive news.

French President Emmanuel Macron will travel to Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, northwest of Paris, on Friday night, where a teacher was beheaded late in the afternoon by an assailant killed by police, the presidency announced.
