The third child with multisystem inflammatory syndrome (PIMS) was admitted to intensive care with multisystem inflammatory syndrome, a post-COVID syndrome. The child is 3 years old and his condition is stable, he is not intubated.
“She is fine. She arrived at the guard on Saturday for transfer from Brașov hospital, a diagnosis of presumed meningitis. In our country she was diagnosed with multiple dysfunctions: respiratory, cardiac, a very pronounced inflammatory syndrome, important hematological alterations. He was admitted to intensive care, where our doctors diagnosed him PIMS. Currently, he is in a favorable condition, he is not intubated, he is stable and well, “Diana Ionescu, medical director of Gomoiu Hospital, said Monday morning on Digi24.
“The child was infected with COVID around September 30. He has a positive test, in our country the tests are negative, but he has a high IGG, so it shows us that he went through the disease. It is a multi-system inflammatory reaction that occurs two to three weeks after SARS-CoV-2 infection, “said the doctor.
This is the third case of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in Romania. Meanwhile, the first child to reach intensive care, a boy in his late teens, has been discharged but will still need recovery. The second case occurred in early October.
