The current mayor of Timisoara, Nicolae Robu, said in a message posted on his Facebook page that he had nothing to do with the properties sold under Law 112/1995 and that he himself had asked that these sales be investigated. On Thursday he was sent to court, along with the former mayor, Gheorghe Ciuhandu and other officials from the Timişoara City Council.
The incumbent mayor, Nicolae Robu, says that no one else in this country knows how to be as slandered as him.
“The Timişoara Court of Appeal rejected the appeal submitted by me regarding my referral to the court by DNA in the case of the returned houses, respectively sold under Law 112 of 1995, together with my predecessor as mayor from Timişoara and some other people. Therefore, what has been said on all communication channels, as of 12/30/2019, that is, that I was sent to court, is now really valid, only now! But Let’s see why I am sued, in fact, because the media coverage of this was done permanently with the gross slander of the undersigned. I really don’t know that anyone in this country has been slandered more than me all these years, and I wonder : Why? With what and against whom was I wrong? Because in addition to working with fanaticism for my university, while I was vice-rector and rector, then for my city, while I was mayor, honoring these high positions, for enormous work and for what What did I leave? Nicolae Robu also writes that it has nothing to do with the sale of nationalized houses to different clans.

After showing that as mayor he sold only two “donuts” and wondered why his name appeared at key moments, associated with the illegal sale of hundreds of houses in the center of the city.

That’s correct, right? It is deeply, deeply unfair! The Timişoara Court of Appeal ruled this Thursday, after two postponements, on the appeal filed by the defendants in the retrocession file of the Timişoara City Council, in the preliminary chamber procedure after the Timiş Court rejected the exceptions invoked by the defense. Thus, the incumbent mayor, Nicolae Robu, but also the former mayor, Gheorghe Ciuhandu, as well as several officials of the Timişoara City Council, were sent to court.
Following the decision of the Timişoara Court of Appeal, the trial on the merits will begin in the Timiş Court.
