President Klaus Iohannis said that it is not necessary to close the entire country and it is not necessary to return to the state of emergency. The head of state also recommended wearing a mask in public, both indoors and outdoors.
Iohannis visited the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), reports the Presidential Administration, on the third day with more than 3,000 new cases of Covid-19. At the end of the visit, the head of state made statements.
“I visited INSP, an institute that has been talked about a lot lately. I wanted a direct discussion with experts in the field. We have found dedicated and competent individuals struggling to cope with a complicated pandemic situation. I was introduced to the Institute, the fields that is about and obviously we discuss the progress of the pandemic in our country. Before going into details, I want to say that I appreciated their work, the ongoing projects and the fact that they care a lot about human resources, specific teams and expansion These results that they obtain have a great impact on state policy.
I spoke a lot about the pandemic, they presented their vision to me here at the Institute. Our approach is more or less the same, we must not panic, but be aware that we are in a serious public health situation. If we want a life close to normality, we must follow the rules: use of mask, distance, hand hygiene, avoid crowds.
Klaus Iohannis: Specialists say that the mask is useful if we want to stop the rapid spread of the virus.
In some localities, where the incidence is higher, restrictions are imposed. Decentralizing the restrictions is a good thing, so I agreed with the representatives of the Institute, Minister Tătaru and my team to work on a methodology to make decisions that are faster, more efficient and correlated with the situation of each locality or county. In this way, we can take the necessary measures more quickly and avoid too harsh restrictions. I repeat, the basic measures are still commented: mask, distance, hygiene.. All experts believe that The mask is extremely useful if we want to stop the spread of the virus. We will have more discussions on where and when we wear the mask. I recommend wearing a mask every time you go out of the house, in public, indoors or outdoors. “Iohannis said.
Klaus Iohannis denies the possibility of resuming the state of emergency
“I do not intend to return to the state of emergency. There are measures that can have better effects. We don’t need to shut down the entire country, we don’t need a state of emergency. At this stage I do not intend to reintroduce the state of emergency, but I am in favor of preventive measures. I think the events where a lot of people get together should be restricted“, Klaus Iohannis said.
