The president of the Federation of Tourism Entrepreneurs of Romania, Mohammad Murad, claims that more than 700,000 people are directly affected by the government’s measures to close the HoReCa sector, and the support measures are completely non-existent, everything is just a game of images. Murad points out that if banks asked investors in the sector to pay the fees, 70% of the hotel industry would go bankrupt.

“Apparently we produce between 3 and 4% of GDP, but we also attract other producers from other areas. There are 300,000 people directly affected, but indirectly there are more than 700,000 people affected. There are people directly affected and we asked the Government to tell us which studies are based on the closure of HoReCa and could not tell us anything. There is no evidence that restaurants can be outbreaks. (…) I asked for a package of support measures and in vain to give you help after the death of the patient If the banks ask us to pay the fees tomorrow morning, I assure you that 70% of the hotel and restaurant industry in Romania will go bankrupt. I discussed this with Minister Cîțu.
In our country there is a great distance between what is said and what is put into practice. We spoke to the Prime Minister 5 times, they told us 5 times that Mr. Tataru and Mr. Arafat made this decision, that Mr. Orban took a step back.
Given the situation, we want several things from the Government. First of all, let’s have predictability, not closing the next day. At the same time, we want to be treated with respect, because we saw the sad statements of the prime minister who said that he sends checks upon checks to HoReCa, but we are not new children either. We would like you to help us in our relationship with the banks, because if tomorrow they ask us to pay all the fees, then 70% of us are going bankrupt.
We want the government to really help us. We have been good payers so far, we have contributed to the state budget and we must be paid back, so that we can survive. We no longer just want image measurements! “Said Mohammad Murad, on Radio Romania News.
