President Donald Trump has no symptoms of Covid-19 for 24 hours, and his fever has been gone for more than four days, his doctor, Sean Conley, told the BBC.
Conley said, among other things, that the US president has “detectable levels of antibodies to Covid-19” in his blood and that he has not needed additional oxygen since being taken to the hospital last week. Donald Trump was discharged on Monday, the day he immediately returned to the White House.
The news comes in the context that the second presidential debate should take place a week before the November 3 elections.
Regeneron, the company that makes the antibody treatment Donald Trump received, cautions that “detectable antibodies” found in the president’s blood tests may be due to the treatment and do not necessarily indicate that Donald Trump is cured. The company says the antibody test found modified antibodies that were given to the president through treatment, according to CNN.
These lab versions of the immune system proteins would remain detectable in your body for several months: “Most tests do not distinguish between endogenous antibodies (made by the patient’s body) and those that reach the body through our treatment. Given the time this test was done, it is likely to detect antibodies in treatment.”.
