Nicușor Dan says he has a boiler in an apartment because he lives in an area of Bucharest where there is no central heating system. Regarding a rumor about the tax on central heating, the elected mayor general affirms that such a policy is “absurd”, because the Capital City Council has not yet solved the problem of hot water and heating.
“I live in an area of Bucharest where there is no central heating and then yes, I have hot water because I have my own boiler,” Nicușor Dan replied on Wednesday night on Digi24, when asked if he had hot water.
Asked how he will fix the damage, the mayor-elect said that “we have two problems.”
“Very short term, which means this winter, as you know, I will invest somewhere on October 15, and winter will start somewhere on November 10. Impossible to change hundreds of miles of pipeline during this time. We can prepare a management of damage, this means making sure that we have the necessary intervention team, that we will have the materials for the intervention, that the teams will have detectors to detect damage more quickly. In addition to the mayor’s equipment, we will urgently open some auctions so that we can have individuals who can intervene immediately. We probably have damage between 10 and 15 times a day, “he added.
Nicușor Dan also said that “immediate and honest communication with citizens” is needed to receive notifications, and then to be informed about the duration of the intervention.
“Starting in the spring, I went to the Ministry of European Funds, to find out that we already have 300 million euros already allocated, that the City Council could take from 2016, it has not yet taken them, we still have 200 million through the PNRR , so a total of 500 million euros and with them we can change a significant amount in terms of the main network. The works will begin in the spring of next year ”, he added.
When asked about a rumor about a possible tax on apartment power plants, because they would be the most polluting, Nicușor Dan dismissed this idea.
“It would be absurd for such a tax to be instituted by the City Council of the capital when it is not capable of generating hot water and heating. If such a tax is imposed from the central level, it will obviously be mandatory on the territory of Bucharest, but the City Council of the capital cannot have such a policy before solving the hot water situation. It is a situation identical to that Oxygen tax, which the previous administration wanted to institute, ”said Nicușor Dan.
